While similar to standard ISO containers, offshore refrigerated containers are stronger and more durable. They are specifically designed to withstand harsh sea conditions, such as stormy winds, strong waves and corrosive sea spray. They must be strong enough to withstand collisions with offshore structures during elevation. An average refrigerated container maintains temperatures in the range of -13 to 77 degrees.
Fahrenheit. However, there are highly specialized cooling units that reach temperatures as low as -85 degrees Fahrenheit. These refrigerators are commonly used for transporting items in the medical and chemical industries. Most have controls mounted on the cockpit dashboard with touchscreen technology or a button to raise or lower the temperature as needed for different load categories (see below).
These trailers, known in the industry as “refrigerators” (a derivative of the term “refrigerator”), place diesel-powered refrigeration units in the front part to maintain the right temperature. For companies that require ultra-low temperatures, Conexwest also offers deep freezers for rapid cooling and super freezers capable of maintaining -70 °C (-94 °F), ideal for the vaccine, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. With both rental and purchase options, Reefers are a “fresh and flexible” option ideal for seasonal, festival or on demand needs. Refrigerated containers are the ideal choice for industries that need flexibility and varied temperature control, while freezers provide deep cold reliability for products that require strict preservation.
They provide energy efficient cooling systems that ensure the desired temperature ranges and make the trucks suitable for extended use.
